Assurance of Salvation — Confidence in God’s Promise

Series: Daily Light from the Word — Day 7

Scripture Reading:

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life.”
— 1 John 5:13 (KJV)

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish.”
— John 10:27–28 (KJV)

Knowing, Not Guessing

Many people live with uncertainty about their relationship with God. They hope they are saved, but they are not sure. Yet Scripture teaches that believers can have confidence in their salvation. The Apostle John wrote that those who believe in Christ may know that they have eternal life.

This assurance does not come from feelings or personal achievements. It rests on the promises of God. When a person trusts Christ as Savior, God grants eternal life. Because it is eternal, it cannot be temporary.

The Security of Christ’s Work

Jesus described believers as His sheep. He knows them personally, and He promises that they will never perish. Their security rests in His power, not their own strength.

If salvation depended on our ability to hold on to God, we would fail. Instead, Scripture teaches that God holds on to us. The believer’s confidence is not in personal faithfulness but in the faithfulness of Christ.

Living with Confidence

Assurance brings peace to the heart of the believer. Instead of living in fear or doubt, we can walk forward in confidence, knowing that our salvation rests on God’s promise.

This assurance does not lead to careless living. Instead, it motivates believers to follow Christ with gratitude and love.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the assurance that comes through Your promises. Help me trust fully in the work of Christ and rest in the salvation You have provided. Strengthen my faith and help me live each day with confidence and gratitude. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
