Putting On the New Man

Series: Daily Light from the Word — Day 34

Scripture Reading:

“And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
— Ephesians 4:24 (KJV)

“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.”
— Colossians 3:10 (KJV)

A New Identity in Christ

When a person is saved, they receive a new identity. The “new man” represents the life that God creates within the believer—a life marked by righteousness and holiness. This is not something we earn, but something God places within us through salvation.

Because of this, believers are no longer defined by their past. Their identity is now found in Christ.

Living Out the New Nature

To “put on” the new man means to actively live according to this new identity. It involves choosing attitudes and actions that reflect God’s character. This includes truthfulness, kindness, patience, forgiveness, and love.

These qualities are not produced by human effort alone. They are the result of God working within us as we yield to Him.

A Continual Renewal

The new man is continually renewed in knowledge. As believers grow in their understanding of God’s Word, their lives are shaped more into the image of Christ. This renewal is ongoing and develops over time.

Each day provides new opportunities to grow, learn, and reflect Christ more clearly.

Reflecting Christ to Others

As believers put on the new man, their lives begin to reflect Christ to those around them. Others may see the difference in how they speak, act, and respond to situations.

This becomes a testimony of God’s transforming power.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the new life You have given me. Help me live according to this new identity. Teach me to reflect Your character in my thoughts and actions. Continue to renew me through Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
