Special Easter Devotional
The Easter Story
It was early in the morning, while it was still dark, when a small group of women made their way toward the tomb. Their hearts were heavy with sorrow. Just days before, they had watched Jesus suffer and die upon the cross. Now they came to honor Him, expecting only to find His body.
As they approached, something was not as it should be. The stone that had sealed the tomb had been rolled away. Concern and confusion filled their minds as they stepped closer.
When they entered the tomb, they did not find the body of Jesus. Instead, they were met with a message that would change everything:
“Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.”
— Luke 24:5–6 (KJV)
In that moment, sorrow gave way to astonishment. The words of Jesus began to come back to them—He had said He would rise again.
What seemed like defeat at the cross was, in truth, victory. The grave could not hold Him. Death had been conquered. Jesus Christ was alive.
The women left the tomb with a new purpose—to tell others what they had seen and heard. The message of the empty tomb would soon spread, bringing hope to fearful hearts and joy to those who believed.
That morning was not the end of the story—it was the beginning of something new. A new day had dawned.
Scripture Reading:
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.”
— Matthew 28:6 (KJV)
“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:20 (KJV)
The Darkness Before the Dawn
The events leading up to the resurrection were filled with sorrow and uncertainty. Jesus Christ had been crucified, and His followers were left grieving. From a human perspective, it seemed like hope had been lost.
Yet even in that darkness, God’s plan was still unfolding. What appeared to be defeat was actually part of His greater purpose.
The Empty Tomb
The empty tomb stands as a powerful declaration that Jesus is alive. It confirms that His sacrifice was accepted and that His promises are true.
This was not a misunderstanding or a mystery—it was the fulfillment of what Christ had said.
Victory Over Death
The resurrection is the foundation of the Christian faith. Through it, Christ conquered sin and death. Because He lives, believers have hope beyond this life.
The resurrection assures us that death is not the end and that eternal life is available through Him.
A New Day Dawning
The resurrection marks a new beginning. Just as the sun rises to bring light after darkness, Christ’s resurrection brings spiritual life and hope.
This truth reminds us that God brings life out of death and hope out of despair.
Living in the Power of the Resurrection
The resurrection is not only something to believe—it is something to live. Believers are called to walk in the new life Christ has provided, living with hope, purpose, and confidence in God’s promises.
Each day is an opportunity to live in the light of the risen Savior.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Thank You that death has been defeated and that we have hope through Him. Help me live each day in the power of the new life You have given. Let my life reflect the truth that Christ is risen. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
He is risen indeed.
