Series: Daily Light from the Word — Day 40
Scripture Reading:
“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work.”
— Colossians 1:10 (KJV)
“Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:9 (KJV)
A Worthy Walk
The Christian life is described as a walk—a daily journey lived step by step. Scripture calls believers to walk in a way that is “worthy of the Lord,” meaning a life that reflects His character and honors Him.
This is not about earning God’s favor, but about living in response to the grace already given through Christ.
Desiring to Please God
A life that pleases God begins with a heart that desires Him. As believers grow in their relationship with God, their desire shifts from pleasing themselves to pleasing Him.
This affects how they think, speak, and act. Their choices begin to reflect God’s will rather than personal preference.
Fruitful Living
Colossians speaks of being “fruitful in every good work.” A life that pleases God produces visible results—good works that reflect His character. These works are not the cause of salvation, but the result of it.
As believers walk with God, their lives begin to bear fruit that points others to Him.
A Life of Purpose
Living to please God gives life purpose and direction. It provides clarity in decision-making and motivation to remain faithful. Even in ordinary moments, believers can honor God through their actions.
This kind of life is not perfect, but it is consistent and focused on God’s will.
Looking Toward Eternity
Scripture reminds us that one day we will stand before the Lord. This truth encourages believers to live with eternity in view. A life that pleases God today prepares us for that future moment.
Each day becomes an opportunity to live for His glory.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me live a life that pleases You. Guide my steps and shape my heart so that my life reflects Your will. Help me be fruitful in what I do and faithful in how I live. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
