Series: Daily Light from the Word — Day 21
Scripture Reading:
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJV)
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
— Colossians 3:2 (KJV)
Looking Beyond the Present
It is easy to become focused on the temporary things of life—daily responsibilities, challenges, and concerns. Yet Scripture calls believers to look beyond what is seen and focus on what is eternal.
The things of this world are temporary, but the promises of God are everlasting.
A Different Perspective
An eternal perspective changes how we view life. Difficulties are seen as temporary, and blessings are seen as reminders of God’s goodness. Our priorities begin to align with what matters most in light of eternity.
When we set our affection on things above, our hearts are drawn closer to God.
Living with Purpose
Understanding that life is temporary encourages believers to live with purpose. Each day becomes an opportunity to honor God, serve others, and invest in what has eternal value.
This perspective brings clarity, peace, and direction to the Christian life.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me keep my focus on eternal things. When I become distracted by temporary concerns, remind me of what truly matters. Guide my heart and help me live each day with purpose for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
