Serving with Humility

Series: Daily Light from the Word — Day 48

Scripture Reading:

“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.”
— Matthew 23:11 (KJV)

The Example of Christ

Jesus Christ is the perfect example of humble service. Though He is Lord, He came to serve rather than to be served. His life demonstrates that true greatness is found in humility.

Believers are called to follow this example.

A Right Attitude

Serving with humility means putting others before ourselves. It removes the desire for recognition and focuses on honoring God.

A humble attitude transforms service from obligation into worship.

Guarding Against Pride

Pride can quietly influence service, leading to comparison or a desire for attention. Humility guards against this by keeping the focus on God and others.

When service is done with humility, it reflects the character of Christ.

Serving with a Servant’s Heart

A servant’s heart looks for opportunities to help, support, and encourage. It is willing to do what is needed, even when it is unseen.

This kind of service brings honor to God and blessing to others.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, teach me to serve with humility. Help me follow the example of Christ and put others before myself. Guard my heart from pride and help me serve with a sincere desire to honor You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
